Slow Derek, Dan Ojari
‘s thesis film for the Royal College of Art and a Sundance 2012 Selection is simply an amazing stop motion film. An animation that tells the story of an office worker and his inner struggle, when his life changes suddenly after realising how fast the Earth is spinning through space. The clever narrative contrasts the lifestyle of its hero with the dizzying rotation of the world serving as an effective metaphor for daily life and consequently delivering to us a unique and unusual film. Slow Derek, one of the stand-out animations of recent years.
Dan Ojari is a graduate of the Royal College of Art with an MA in Animation. He is an award winning animator and director based in London.
