The Black Constellation — a creative cross disciplinary guild comprised musically of Shabazz Palaces and THEESatisfaction, and visually by director Maikoiyo Alley-Barnes — have premiered their latest short film (Sparkles)… Recollections of the Wraith. Part twelve of thirteen of the Ode to Octavia Series, Sparkles was presented initially during Moment Magnitude at the Frye Art Museum, and was conceived, written and directed by Alley-Barnes. It is a gorgeous short piece of cinematography and sound that was shot in the Methow Valley, Cascade foothills and Carnation, Washington. Ode To Octavia, a series made in tribute of celebrated science fiction writer Octavia Butler, is in the words of the creators:

a brief peak into a sacred clandestine ceremony and celebratory act examined through video, object, and codified sound.

The Black Constellation consists of a unified cross disciplinary guild of Soothsayers, Makers, Empaths, and Channels. They are comprised of Shabazz Palaces, THEESatisfaction and the artist and director Maikoiyo Alley-Barnes. Their terrestrial offerings have been myriad, including: sentient offspring production, the facilitation of cultural phenomenon, the perpetuation of ancient ritual, and the undertaking of the new and remarkable. In all things, The Black Constellation combines the astral and the earthly; the gorgeous with the abjectly honest; the ancient with the as of yet unimagined.
